The American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC) is seeking a dynamic individual to join the crew of this Annapolis based non-profit organization making a difference in boating safety. The Department Assistant position will provide support for the various departments at ABYC along with assisting our members in finding the information or staff member to maximize their membership experience. The Department Assistant’s duties are shared between multiple ABYC departments. This position provides support to the Membership Department, the Education Department and the Marketing Department in addition to general office support. Support for the Membership Department involves assisting with retention, renewals and new member development. The majority of time is spent contacting members through phone, email and regular mail in efforts to maintain their current membership status. Support for the Education Department involves mailing certification packets, updating member profiles as necessary, as well as contacting new and existing Certified Technicians. Support for the Marketing Department involves coordinating volunteers, speaker information and booth arrangement and logistics for the trade and boat shows and special events. This position is also responsible for providing general office support and assistance to any incoming callers and any visitors. This position requires superior customer service skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, be highly organized and have the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. It also requires a good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and a web based membership management system
